July 2015

My friends and I that use Stitch Fix often compare items we've received, so I thought I'd start blogging it for them. It's easier than just texting our not so stellar iPhone pics (my apologies) to each other or Facetiming each other while we try everything on to get each other's opinions.
If you haven't heard of Stitch Fix, I'll fill you in. You create a personalized style profile, schedule a “fix” for a $20.00 styling fee, then wait for your package to arrive at your doorstep that a stylist has put together based on your profile and or Pinterest board. They're like Santa's little helpers. You try everything on in the comfort of your own home, rather than dragging 3 or 4 kids into a dressing room with you. You keep what you like, what you don’t you send back in a prepaid envelope within 3 days. Your $20 styling fee goes towards your purchase and if you keep all the items in your fix you get a 25% discount, which often basically comes out to getting one item for free. You also get a referral link you can pass along so others can give it a try too!  If they schedule a fix you get a $25.00 credit.
Mine is www.stichfix.com/referral/4732601
Once you sign up I advise you to set up a Pinterest board and add it's link to your style profile. I did this and had my friends do the same. Some even added me as a contributor to their boards. I find Stitch Fix items I like and pin them, stating what I like about each item. I'm sure to put in my profile if I'm crossing my fingers for a specific item like a comfortable pair of boyfriend jeans. I don't need accessories at this moment so I also request to not receive those. So far I've been pleased with my experiences. I feel like the stylists have listened to my wants, needs, likes and dislikes.

This month I didn't have my usual stylist, Emilie. But I had been fairly specific in what I'd requested so I knew I'd get at least one piece I'd like.

One item I'd requested was a nautical striped top.
Ask and you shall receive.
This is the Market & Spruce Corinna striped dolman top
I feel like nearly everyone that subscribes to Stitch Fix has this top in one of it's various colors so I was glad to snag one in navy. I'd requested navy or gray. It's just as soft as other bloggers mentioned and I love the cut. Keeper! Oh, and don't be scared of the stripes. I know I usually do but I've seen this on countless Stitch Fixers and it's lovely on each of our various shapes.

Next up was this tank and jeans.
(I'd also requested distressed jeans.)
These are the Kut from the Kloth Haiden distressed straight leg jean
And these were a big fat no.
I felt like I was back in maternity jeans. I didn't take detailed pictures of myself in these because they just did nothing for my shape. In fact they aged me a good 15 years. I only wear skinny or boot cut/flared jeans. No straight cut. And this is why. I have a serious case of chicken legs and when I wear straight leg jeans it looks like I borrowed them in an emergency. They just don't work for me. Back in the box they went.
And allow me to introduce the Skies are Blue Crispin scoop neck top
This is cute.  The pattern seemed very Mediterranean to me. And I loved the little key hole detail in the back, and the cut of this tank. It would be great with light washed distressed jeans, white jeans or even cut offs.

Then I got to this beauty...
The Laila Jayde Salderas hooded cardigan
Oh my peas did I love this cardi! It was a fantastic length and weight. I loved the neutral color. I'm all about neutrals. The hood! Oh and pockets! Yes sir, I was smitten.
Only, I already own a cardigan in this length and color, sans hood and pockets. I wish I had been sent this before I'd bought the one currently residing in my closet. So with a sigh I sent it back. But if you're in the market for a cardigan you can wear with anything, request this.
It's fab and deserves a good home.
I think the stylist sent this because I'm in the market for a neutral colored baja hoodie. I want the one from Teen Beach Movie (yes, you read that correctly, I have a 7 year old so cut me some slack) but I haven't been able to track it down yet.

Also peeking out from under the perfect cardi was this sweet top.
The Skies are Blue Alexa embroidery detail tank
This is a really lovely color of thread, like a pool blue. Beautiful. But I already have this in a cobalt embroidery and the long sleeve peasant top version in red. So I didn't figure I'd need 3 of the same top in various colors, so I returned this gem as well.
