April 2015

My friends and I that enjoy Stitch Fix always share and compare items we've received, I thought I'd start blogging it for them. It's easier than just texting our not so stellar iPhone pics (my apologies) to each other or Facetiming each other while we try everything on and get each other's opinions.
If you haven't heard of Stitch Fix I'll fill you in. You create a personalized style profile, schedule a “fix” for a $20.00 styling fee, then wait for your package to arrive at your doorstep that a stylist has put together based on your profile and or Pinterest board. They're like Santa's little helpers. You try everything on in the comfort of your own home, rather than dragging 3 or 4 kids into a dressing room with you. You keep what you like, what you don’t you send back in a prepaid envelope within the next 3 days. Your $20 styling fee goes towards your purchase and if you keep all of the items in your fix you get a 25% discount, which often basically comes out to getting one item for free. You also get a referral link you can pass along so others can give it a try too!  If they schedule a fix you get a $25.00 credit to use toward your next purchase. Mine is www.stichfix.com/referral/4732601

Once you sign up I advise you to set up a Pinterest board and add it's link to your style profile. I did this and suggested my friends do the same. Some even added me as a contributor to their boards. I find Stitch Fix items I like and pin them, stating what I like about each item. For example: I love the back cut out details of this top and the fact that it's a bit longer, it doesn't hit right at the hips. Or, I love this color block dress with pockets, fun and functional for work. I'm sure to put in my profile if I'm crossing my fingers for a specific item like a comfortable pair of boyfriend jeans. I don't need accessories at this moment so I also request to not receive those. So far I've been pleased with my experiences. I feel like the stylists have listened to my wants, needs, likes and dislikes.

April 2015

This month my stylist, Emilie, knocked it out of the park! She paid close attention to my Pinterest board and sent me a box full of things that were just my style.

First was the Skies are Blue Kendra knit top.

It's an off white color. Yay. I love neutrals. And it has this fun bohemian style print embroidered on it in dark gray and rust. Oh, and a little key hole detail at the top. It's super comfortable and versatile. I wear it with shorts or jeans. I love it.

This is a Skies are Blue Casey embroidered blouse.
I'm not usually a fan of blouses. That fabric just isn't my cup of tea. But this top I liked. I really dig the black embroidery at the neck and down the front. The pattern isn't something I would have bought myself. I most likely would have bought this in a solid had I seen it in stores. But the pattern ensures that it works well with various bottoms. I typically wear it with these white shorts and wedges but it's cute with skinny jeans, too. I even wore it to church with a black pencil skirt. It's light weight and easy.

Emilie also sent me this Collective Concepts Rosco floral print crochet detail tank because I'd pinned it to my Stitch Fix Pinterest board.
I'm all about crochet or lace. This has various colors on it, making it easy to pair with jeans, like the Liverpool Mira skinny jeans, also in this fix, or a pair of shorts. I really like it with distressed denim or a cute little pair of navy shorts I own. It's a great addition for summer in the south.

Lastly she included this THML Kahlo knit top.
Everyone I follow had added this top to their boards. For that reason, I didn't add it to mine. But she thought I'd like it (I do love embroidery) so she sent it. I'd seen it in various colors, both solid and striped. I'd seen it in short sleeve and as a tank. But this style of sleeve was the right choice to send me. Plus, she couldn't have known it but I own a children's soccer company and this gray, white and orange embroidery matches the color scheme of our brand! So I can wear it to the rare work event, but also just to run to the store or out to dinner. It's also versatile. I like it with these white shorts and moccasins but it's just as cute with boyfriend jeans and flats or wedges or under a cardi. So even though I didn't think I'd want this in my fix in the colors I'd seen, being gray and orange made it a winner. Plus, it meant I was keeping all 5 items (the boho top, the crochet tank, the skinny jeans, and the embroidered blouse) which made the jeans nearly free!
So they were all winners, as is this month's stylist Emilie, and I requested to keep her every month. I'm convinced we'd be best friends. I appreciate that she genuinely looked into my likes and dug through inventory to find pieces she thought I was sure to love. I don't know if they get a bonus or something if we buy all 5 items, but they should! Cause I was thrilled with this fix.
Bravo Emilie!
Slow clap.
High fives.
